Yes, Analyzify is perfectly compatible with non-Shopify Plus stores. With the removal of Shopify’s previous limitations on checkout customization for regular plans, there are no longer any restrictions related to tracking across different Shopify plans. This means that Analyzify can be used perfectly with non-Shopify Plus stores as well, allowing full tracking capabilities on every page of the Shopify store, including all steps of the checkout process.

Absolutely. Analyzify has developed to provide accurate data for Shopify clients. With over five years of background in the data analytics field, we are committed to delivering reliable results. While data can never be 100% accurate due to technical reasons, our goal is to maintain at least 90% consistency. We continuously monitor and take action to address any inaccuracies promptly. Your satisfaction is our priority, and we are always ready to help you.To learn more about our data accuracy, please visit here.

Yes! We used to recommend our customers activate this feature as a secondary conversion because it did not work as perfectly: warnings or inaccuracies could come up even when it was set up correctly. Today, we trust the measurement of this feature, so we keep our “Primary Conversions as Enhanced Conversion” settings turned on.

Definitely yes! You can set up Analyzify now and the data will be tracked once you launch. You can also choose to set up Analyzify on a duplicated/development theme. So, you can set it up and test it before you go live.

Enhanced E-commerce is a Universal Analytics (the old version) feature – and it is included in our setup. However, we recommend using the native UA integration because of the checkout.liquid limitations for non-Shopify Plus clients. You can learn more here.

Analyzify tracks many events & actions that Shopify’s native integrations do not, such as product list visits, product list/category clicks, etc. Moreover, as Google announced that Universal Analytics will be completely replaced with Google Analytics 4 in July 2023, Analyzify includes data layers, Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics 4, and many other integrations that the native Shopify simply doesn’t offer.

Analyzify also provides you with a well-designed data layer, which means you could extend your 3rd party implementations with other marketing partners easily. Analyzify offers you direct support to configure your GA account to get the best out of the data layers like content grouping, custom dimensions, goal setup, etc.Last but not least, Analyzify comes with a detailed Google Data Studio report through which you can see all the important reports in detail. You can find the features and breakdown of Analyzify’s product by clicking here.

Shopify’s native reports will not be enough for you to run and optimize professional marketing campaigns as they provide you only with a simple report interface covering the most basic data.

Furthermore, its native integration doesn’t support Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics 4, and many other related parties.

That’s why you need an advanced tracking & reporting setup to maximize your ROI.

Your historical data won’t be affected. Analyzify doesn’t require creating new Google Analytics, Google Ads or Google Tag Manager accounts. It works on your existing properties. It just changes the way that data flows into these accounts. You can learn more about our process through this link.

We apply a 25% discount on the 2nd store if the stores are identical (theme, apps, products). The same goes for 3rd, 4th, or more stores. In a summary, you will pay the full amount for the 1st store and you will get a 25% discount on the following stores. You can read the details on our related support page.

We continuously enhance our dashboards and reports to provide accurate and actionable data.

Implementation

Yes! Analyzify is totally a beginner-friendly app, and you don’t need to have any prior technical knowledge. We offer technical guidance, FAQs, and video tutorials on each step, and our support team is always just one message away!

Our data layers work perfectly on the Online Store 2.0 themes too. However, some Shopify stores are quite unique in terms of theme coding, apps, and structure, so our data layer codes may not always deliver the best results for every store.

If you encounter a problem with any specific event (e.g. Add-to-Cart), our support team will jump in and perform customizations either on our data layers or your theme files for your specific case, and resolve the issue. Rarely, it is not possible to make data layers fully functional for technical reasons – especially if you are using many external apps. In those cases, we can get your developers’ help. Please note that we do all changes on the duplicated themes and share the detailed changelog with you.

Analyzify’s setup includes all the events and variables that are listed on our features page. If you want to track custom events:

a) You can do it by adding new data layers or listeners – and editing your Google Tag Manager container.
b) You can ask for the support team’s help. There might be an additional charge depending on the workload.

We don’t host any data – all yours! As a European company, we care about your company and your client’s privacy. Our servers or properties are NOT USED at all.

We may need temporary access to your Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics, and Google Ads properties only if you need our help. We will kindly ask you to cancel our access once we are done with it.

That’s quite common for us – and Analyzify also takes care of the issues you’re having with your existing setup.

Our setup & tool includes an audit as well. We check your current data situation, existing tags & accounts, and either apply or suggest the best practices.

Google Ads

Yes, Analyzify’s tags use Google Shopping app’s product ID format by default. We recommend using the official Google app for your product feed & re-marketing pixels, and Analyzify for your Google Ads conversion tracking.

Analyzify’s advanced data layers and Google Tag Manager setup increases the accuracy on your Google Ads tracking. We do send more data to Google Ads to increase the performance in general.

We have interactive troubleshooting guides to help you detect and fix any possible issues.

We strongly recommend that you read our Shopify – “Google Ads Playbook” if you wish to have a great understanding of the topic. You can be sure that there won’t be any mess if you use the official Google app for remarketing events and Analyzify for conversion tracking.

Our support team is also always ready to help if you have trouble solving your issues.

Definitely yes! You can set up Analyzify now and the data will be tracked once you launch. You can also choose to set up Analyzify on a duplicated/development theme. So, you can set it up and test it before you go live.

Google Analytics

Analyzify’s Universal Analytics integration (through GTM) is more efficient than the native integration. However, Shopify has some limitations (lack of the “checkout.liquid” file) for non-Shopify Plus clients about the checkout process tracking.

So, even though Analyzify’s UA integration is better, it won’t work on the checkout pages for non-Shopify Plus clients. Because of this, we strongly recommend using GA4 through Analyzify’s GTM and native UA integration for non-Shopify Plus clients. In short, you shouldn’t remove it and keep the native integration.

Shopify Plus clients should choose our UA integration through GTM because it works better than the native one. In that case, you can remove the native integration and activate our UA tags on Google Tag Manager.

Analyzify works through Google Tag Manager. Our Universal Analytics (UA) tags are paused by default, because most merchants use the native integration for UA. So it will not affect your existing native UA setup. We strongly recommend using GA4 through Analyzify’s GTM and native UA integration for non-Shopify Plus clients. Shopify Plus clients can choose our UA integration through GTM because it works better than the native one.

Enhanced E-commerce is a Universal Analytics (the old version) feature – and it is included in our setup. However, we recommend using the native UA integration because of the checkout.liquid limitations for non-Shopify Plus clients. You can learn more here.

Google Tag Manager

Definitely, yes! Our tool is totally beginner-friendly and we have detailed video guides for you at each step. Our support team is also more than happy to jump in and execute the needed steps on your behalf if you run into any trouble.

Analyzify will deliver a pre-built Google Tag Manager container with your information and tracking IDs inserted in it. What you will only need to do is to import that GTM container into your Google Tag Manager account, and publish the changes. It is approximately a 15-minute process, and you’ll be presented with detailed video tutorials for each step.

Definitely yes. You can always use the variables and triggers in Analyzify’s GTM container to make new tags according to your needs.

GTM has countless benefits, but its main purpose is to help you manage your marketing / tracking pixels from one place without needing a developer.

By using the same data sets, you can set up Google Analytics 4, Google Ads conversion tracking, Bing pixels, and many others. Check out our related post to learn even more benefits.

A data layer is a JavaScript object that collects data on your website in a standardized way. You can learn more about data layers and their use for Shopify merchants in this video.

Just like the regular version of Analyzify, our server-side tagging setup will be served under your properties. We will not collect or pass any data to our properties. All the data will flow into your own Google Analytics, Google Cloud and GTM accounts. Our team will be responsible for the setup and validation.

Technically no, but practically, yes. You can use GTM without using data layers, but if you do that, you won’t be able to pass specific data (e.g. product ID, name, order total revenue, etc.).

You can only use the general tags like Google Analytics 4 – which works on all pages. However, you can’t use Google Ads Conversion Tracking properly, because you again need some information like the order ID, revenue, currency, and a few others.

Analyzify provides open-source data layers for Shopify merchants.

Definitely yes. GTM is useable for non-Shopify Plus stores as well. You can add the GTM container to theme.liquid file and order processing additional scripts.

The only limitation that regular Shopify stores have is NOT being allowed to edit the checkout process due to checkout.liquid file limitations.

Purchase tracking and other user behavior metrics/reports are so crucial and you will still have a majority of the events/reports.

Google Tag Manager and all other tracking codes will still WORK on every page + order processed (thank you page) but the checkout steps won’t be included.

GDPR

Analyzify experts can take care of your GDPR setup completely at no extra cost! Simply install the app and choose the “Done-For-You GDPR” option as your setup method, and our team will provide you with a GDPR audit, consent management tool adjustments, and validation & tests.

Please note that showing a cookie notice banner doesn’t make your Shopify store GDPR-compliant.
(Learn more)
Analyzify offers a Google Tag Manager setup that is completely GDPR compliant and uses the Google Consent Mode. You will have the GDPR section at the end of your regular setup.

Depends on the store. Merchants are responsible for their stores to be GDPR compliant themselves, as Shopify doesn’t own the stores and doesn’t carry a responsibility to make the stores GDPR compliant.

This is how Shopify explains it on their related page:

As a processor of data, Shopify fulfills its own legal obligations under the GDPR. However, merchants (as controllers) also have their own separate obligations that they must consider.

Shopify provides merchants with a platform that can be configured to be GDPR compliant, but it is up to merchants on how they would like to run their businesses.

Here’s the short answer: Yes and no.

It does help your site to be GDPR compliant, but it can also enable every users’ data to be treated in a different way based on their consent status, processing some of them as anonymous and some of them as normal. Because of this, it is not enough to only use Consent Mode to be GDPR compliant.

No, it is unfortunately not enough.

Although those settings limit the data transfers, they are still not sufficient, as GDPR regulations are much more complex and you need to have many other features to be GDPR compliant as a Shopify merchant.

No. A cookie consent banner is only one of the requirements of GDPR, not to mention most cookie consent banners on Shopify fail the requirements of the banner functions and visuals.

Follow our detailed guideline and checklist to make sure your store is GDPR compliant.

As of May 2021, Google Tag Manager has been updated with an integrated consent feature that allows for each tag you create to have built-in consent checks. So, GTM now asks for a cookie consent to be able to function in accordance with your website.

At its default state, the answer is no.

For your Google Analytics to be GDPR compliant, your website should have a privacy policy that explains how it processes data, to which your visitors can give or deny their consent for your cookies to track their behavior.

As a Shopify merchant, it is your legal responsibilty to be GDPR compliant if you are serving to the clients in the European Union (EU).

We have prepared a detailed guidance and a checklist for Shopify merchants on the GDPR topic, so please follow it carefully to ensure your store passes as compliant.

Although Analyzify is GDPR-compliant as a product, you need an additional tool focused on consent management for your store to be fully GDPR compliant. Once used together with an integrated tool and proper setup, Analyzify is fully compliant.

Yes. To achieve full compliance, you will need an external tool in addition to Analyzify to manage your users’ consent.

To put it simply, the Shopify GDPR app functions as a banner: It connects with Consent API and blocks the data flow regarding the given consent by the user. It does not support the Google Consent Mode, which is the main reason why it does not work with our setup. Google Consent Mode connects with GTM; without it, the user’s consent choice cannot be tracked via GTM. On the other hand, the supported apps include Google Consent Mode, which works as a bridge between Shopify and GTM using both GCM and the Shopify Customer Privacy API. Hence, if you continue with Shopify GDPR, your native integrations, such as UA, will work according to the user’s consent. However, our GDPR setup will not work (since the setup does not include GCM and required events do not pass).

As for our standard setup (without GDPR), if the consent setting is “collected after the consent,” this setting can interfere with the data collection and decrease the accuracy. You can find more information regarding the issue and the supported apps here in this article .

Currently, Analyzify is compatible with the apps GDPR Compliance Center (by Pandectes), Cookiebot (by Usercentrics), and Axeptio (by Tranzistor) as consent management solutions. Because Analyzify works through GTM, and only Google’s Consent Mode enables GTM to be GDPR compliant, we need an app that works through Consent Mode. Apart from the apps listed, we are not aware of any other apps that provide Google Consent Mode, but if you are, kindly let our team know and we’ll check it out 🙂

Facebook

Analyzify includes the Facebook Pixel tags on GTM. However, we wouldn’t recommend using them unless you have a problem with the native integration or you have a Shopify Plus store.

We strongly recommend using the official Facebook App for your product feed, Facebook Pixel, and Facebook Conversion API setup. The native integration works quite well when the setup is done correctly.

For Shopify Plus stores, we additionally recommend Analyzify’s Facebook Conversion API connection (included in our server-side add-on), as we can send more data than the native integration.

For regular Shopify stores, the native connection is the best solution at the moment.

You can check our Playbook for Shopify & Facebook connections for more information.

We don’t recommend using the native integration and GTM at the same time. You should pause Analyzify Facebook Pixel tags on GTM if you are using the native integration.

Check out our Playbook: Facebook Pixel & Shopify to learn more about the subject.

Our app helps with that and increases the accuracy of your reports. We also provide help so that you can have a proper Facebook Pixel & Ads UTM setup to make sure your data is being passed to Google Analytics + Facebook as much as possible.

However, if you expect 100% accuracy, there is no solution in the market to guarantee that due to user privacy and iOS 14.5 changes that have been around for some time now.

Technical

Yes! You will own 100% of your data and properties, so you will be able to add tags using our data layer variables, triggers, or even data layer objects.
